Quality metal key ring with a resin printed surface featuring The Wassail design by Scottish architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868-1928).

The round face of the key ring measures 4 cm in diameter and is packaged with a card display in a clear bag.The gesso wall frieze The Wassail was made in 1900 by Mackintosh for the Ladies Luncheon Room at Miss Cranston’s Ingram Street Tea Rooms in Glasgow, Scotland. The gesso was painted on loose woven hessian fabric over a wooden frame that was embellished with string, pens, beads and tin leaf. The frieze was made in three sections and hung in the tea rooms next to its companion piece ‘The May Queen’ which was made by Margaret Macdonald, Mackintosh’s wife. The frieze depicts wassailing, a pagan fertility ceremony to ensure a good crop. We also sell a glasses case, pocket mirror and paperweight featuring the Wassail design.
